Welcome to yoursayrandwick, our special site for residents and ratepayers to let Randwick Council know what it thinks of our proposed projects and plans.
Council works strenuously to maximise its engagement with the local community and give residents the opportunity to participate in the decisions that affect their lives and their environment.
In 2008, Council adopted its policy to guide and direct community consultations—the Community Consultation Principles and Consultation Planning Guide. Through the ongoing implementation of this policy, Council makes every effort to keep the community informed and engaged, and seeks community feedback on future plans and projects.
On line discussions and feedback give residents and ratepayers opportunities to discuss issues, share ideas and give feedback to Council.
Subscribe to Randwick Council's Enews to keep up to date.
Council also uses direct mail, surveys, working groups, quarterly community newsletters, and precinct meetings to reach out to our community and hear what they are thinking about our projects.

Have your say about waste
Have your say on waste and you could win one of 3 fantastic prizes.
Sydney is running out of landfill space and government fees for taking waste to landfill will rise by about 50% over the next four years.
If we can increase recycling and take less garbage to landfill, Randwick Council can save money for residents and protect our environment.
Your feedback through our special waste survey will help us understand how we can reduce household garbage going to landfill.

Tell us what you think about speed on local roads
This consultation is now closed but feel free review all the comments in the discussion forum.
Do you want to have a speed limit of 50 km/h on all local roads in Randwick City?
The NSW speed limit on local roads in built up areas is 50 km/h, unless otherwise signposted. However a number of streets in Randwick City still have speed limit signposts for over 50 km/h.
Council wants your feedback on a proposal to have a 50 km/h speed limit on all local roads in Randwick City. Your ideas will help Council develop a recommendation to the Roads and Maritime Services (formerly the RTA) on the speed limits for local roads.

Outdoor gym at Maroubra
This consultation has now closed. The comments from the community have been very helpful. Feel free to browse what our community had to say on this proproposal.
Tell us your thoughts on the location, layout and equipment for the Maroubra outdoor gym!
Randwick City Council has allocated funds in this financial year for the provision of an outdoor gym near the existing car park area at Jack Vanny Memorial Park at Maroubra. Next to the Coastal Walkway, the outdoor gym will be set in beautiful surroundings with close access to public transport, the car park and public toilets.
This equipment is ideal for those wanting low impact exercise and is especially good for seniors who want to exercise. The equipment can be set up as an exercise circuit or as separate working stations. A range of equipment could be installed to target cardio, strength and stretch based exercises. See the photo gallery for examples of the equipment in Liverpool. The equipment will help promote better posture, improved balance and greater flexibility, with opportunities to improve health and fitness while socialising in a safe environment.
Council wants to hear what the community thinks of this project.

Randwick Draft Local Environmental Plan
Acceptance of submissions has now closed. You can still view associated LEP documents.
A Local Environmental Plan (LEP) is the main legal document that controls how land is used and developed in a local government area. It determines what can be built, where it can be built and what activities can occur on the land.
A new draft Comprehensive LEP gives Randwick Council the opportunity to make sure that Randwick City’s zoning and planning controls are up to date, address current and emerging planning issues, and support Randwick as a sustainable, well designed and liveable City.
The draft LEP is on exhibition from 21 February to 2 April 2012 and comprises two parts - the written instrument and the maps. These need to be read together to understand what controls apply to a parcel of land in Randwick City.

Traffic in Kensington and West Kingsford
Following concerns expressed by residents about traffic in Kensington and West Kingsford, Council is doing a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) study.
You may see traffic counting in your area, either by people with counters or by rubber tubes stretched across the roads. These traffic counts will result in information on local traffic flow - including speed, volume, vehicle-type and the routes chosen by motorists.
Community consultation and traffic data gathering are vital components of the Council's staged approach.
This website will be regularly updated with the latest information. We will be asking questions and taking quick polls regularly. The document library has all Council's documents relating to traffic management in Kensington from 1995 to the present.
Please log on, join the community conversation and share your ideas with Council and your fellow residents.

Have your say about residential and business centre zoned land in Randwick.
Randwick Council's Residential and Business Centres Discussion Papers are on public exhibition from 23 August until 14 October 2011 and the Council welcomes community comments and feedback.
The two Discussion Papers are the result of a comprehensive review of land zoned for residential and commercial purposes.
Council will be holding a number of drop in sessions to give you the chance to talk directly with Council staff.
These Papers, along with community feedback, will help Council to develop a new comprehensive Local Environment Plan (LEP) and Development Control Plan (DCP) as required by the NSW Government.

Have your say on the Des Renford Aquatic Centre upgrade
Randwick Council is bringing Maroubra's Des Renford Aquatic Centre up to modern standards by adding a new, sustainable and specially designed two storey building.
The new building will include a community fitness centre and gym with cardio, resistance, weights and spin areas; a purpose built crèche with outdoor space, a quiet room and its own amenities; an upgraded café and kitchen as well as reception, foyer, offices and retail space.
As a result of community feedback, Council's design team has made changes to the design. To see the changes go to http://yoursayrandwick.com.au/desrenford

Have your say about light rail for Randwick
Light rail to Randwick is a brilliant idea! To link Randwick to the City by light rail needs community support.
Randwick City Council, the University of NSW and the Australian Turf Club are leading the way and support light rail transport as a matter of priority. They are co-funding a pre-feasibility study into light rail to examine potential routes, preliminary costings, financial viability and patronage.
You're invited to have your say and express your thoughts and support for light rail to Randwick in our online discussion forum.
