What is important to you about the Maroubra Beach Town Centre?

What you would like to see in a Development Control Plan (DCP) for this area?

In conjunction with the Maroubra Beach precinct, Council held  two community workshops at Maroubra Surf Club to give local residents, property owners and local business people a chance to find out more and have their say.

These workshop were facilitated by former ABC radio presenter Deb Cameron. Architects Allen Jack + Cottier were  there to discuss design options.

Go to the site library to see the  notes from these two workshops.

Over the last two years a working group of property owners, precinct representatives, local residents and business people has worked with Randwick City Council and AllenJack+Cottier Architects looking at controls for the area. Randwick Council has now adopted new height limits and land use zones to be incorporated into the new LEP (Local Environment Plan).

The next step is to develop the detailed rules to guide new development and these will be in the DCP. We are keen to hear your ideas.

Community workshops held so far:

  • Monday 24 September. The workshop, from 7.30pm to  9.30pm, started with a walk around the site at 6.30pm.   The purpose of this meeting was to draw out the key issues to be addressed in the DCP.
  • Monday 22 October. This was a feedback session on how the issues noted in the 24 September workshop could be addressed by the draft DCP.

About 80 people went to each of these workshops.

Council and AllenJack+Cottier Architects also held a workshop with the Maroubra Chamber of Commerce on the development of the DCP on Tuesday 25 September.

Once the DCP has been drafted it will go on public exhibition for community comment.
